Favorite Quotes: the love of your life

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has made it through the workweek intact and is getting ready for a fun/relaxing/productive/insert-your-favorite-adjective-here weekend. I'm looking forward to catching up on Girls and Mad Men, hitting up the Portland Farmers' Market and celebrating several friends' June birthdays at a pot-luck dinner party. I'm going to be making a gluten-free vegan birthday cake, which is definitely a first! Wish me lots of luck!

So... the image above. I am a huge fan of good quotes, and this one is an all-time fave of mine. It took years for me to have that "ah ha" moment and realize how powerful this truth is. Try to appreciate those times over the weekend when your friends say they're busy or aren't texting you back and you get stuck spending the afternoon by yourself. (B*tches.      jk!) Make the most of your own company and go do something that you really enjoy - especially something that you love but nobody else seems to (for me that would be stalking the aisles of Good Will for vintage Pyrex). In my own experience, spending time by myself has become one of the most rewarding and empowering practices in my life. I actually look forward to it! I think it's one of those "the more you do it, the more you love it" kinda things.

What is your favorite way to spend time solo?

  1. For me, time alone is pretty darn important but I've come to realize that I do depend on other people to kill that boredom, which is bad. I've been brainstorming recently to see what I enjoy doing and how to entertain myself and seeing what different options I can come up with

    1. Yeah, it can be a challenge to come up with fun things to do solo. I usually entertain myself by doing some kind of physical activity (hiking, working out), being productive (shopping, running errands, or working on a home project) or treating myself to something I enjoy (laying on a picnic blanket at the park with a magazine, watching a favorite movie/ TV series, reading or doing some kind of art, or going to a concert - I've actually been to probably a half dozen concerts by myself). I think one of the most "heck yah I just did that" things you can do is go to a restaurant by yourself. I've done lunch, but never dinner....
