I Dare You Not to Drool

I'm greatly aware that I've already declared at least two other house tours on this blog as "my dream house," so I'm going to tag this next series of photos as "my NYC dream house(s)." Dreaming big, obviously. Generally, there is a noticeable difference between West Coast and East Coast interior design, and while both can be drop-dead gorgeous, I'm most often drawn to the natural, relaxed, feminine style of homes in say, Los Angeles, over the more sleek, sophisticated, masculine looks found in New York City. (Yes, I do realize I am using big-time stereotypes here.)

In this instance however, my love for the eclectic (and somewhat eccentric) has me drooling over the two homes currently featured in Vogue's APT with Lauren Santo Domingo; both happen to be in New York City.

Nicole Hanley Mellon, the new artistic director of Alvin Valley, and her growing family have made their home in The New York Pierre, one of Manhattan's most iconic hotels. I am coveting their brilliant art collection more than anything. Nicole explains, "We both have a weakness for art at the expense of forgoing some necessities." See what she means below...

Favorites: The pops of yellow, that Bambi carpeting, THAT ART ABOVE THE SOFA. OBSESSED.

The next house tour belongs to Bettina Prentice, founder and owner of Prentice Art Communications. Her husband describes her as the only person who shows up at a Phish concert wearing Missoni. Kinda love her.

Favorite Things: The colorful pillows, the jewelry box vignette, the art in the bedroom, the mercury glass mushroom (because I totally have the exact same one!)

And that is the end of the APT with LSD house tours ... always a good time. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
